Our Story

It began when Liberté (Mila’s mom) couldn’t find yoga content that felt aligned for her little one.
She’s looking for something gentle, low-stimulating, and thoughtfully engaging for a young child.
So she created her own.

About Mindful Minis

As a longtime yogi, Liberté always envisioned sharing this practice with her daughter. In doing so, Mindful Minis became an extension of that intention — created not only for her child, but for families seeking a more mindful, connected approach to early learning.

Because yoga is more than movement — it’s a way of being. Rooted in kindness, awareness, and connection, its foundation lies in the Yamas and Niyamas: timeless principles that guide how we care for ourselves and others. Mindful Minis gently translates these teachings into a language children understand through short, beautifully simple, bite-sized videos.

The intention is to introduce emotional regulation, self-soothing, and mindfulness from an early age — offering tools that support children both now and as they grow.

You’ll also find playful breathwork, including lion’s breath and horse breath, designed to be accessible, engaging, and easy to return to —again and again — with Bala leading the way.

Because when it comes to our children, learning should feel like magic.

About Bala

What started as a simple idea quickly became something more intentional: their beloved family dog, Bala, reimagined as a playful cartoon companion, practicing yoga alongside each session. The result — something children are naturally drawn to, where watching feels like a treat and participation becomes effortless play.

About Mila’s Mom

About Milas Mom

Liberté Chan—aka Mila’s mom—has always been guided by movement, discipline, and a deep curiosity about well-being.

She began as a competitive figure skater at just five years old, training and competing through her teenage years. After stepping away from the competitive sport at 15, she remained connected to the ice — teaching figure skating while attending college and performing in ice shows during summers back home in Los Angeles.

After graduating early, Liberté moved back in with her parents at 20 years old. It was a difficult and unexpected season of life, and her parents watched her struggle with anxiety and fear about the future. What felt like an early quarter-life crisis brought stress, uncertainty, and a period of deep depression. During that time, her mom encouraged her to try a yoga class, believing it might help ease her anxiety.

It did more than that.

After just one class, she was hooked. Yoga became a daily practice — one that grounded her, supported her healing, and reshaped the way she moved through life. She has continued that practice ever since.

With a lifelong passion for health and wellness, Liberté earned her master’s degree from the USC School of Public Health, deepening her understanding of how lifestyle, environment, nutrition, mental health, community, and preventative care all work together to influence overall well-being. Her love of learning also led her to become a certified yoga teacher and, most recently in 2024, a certified functional medicine health coach.

Professionally, she became a familiar face in Los Angeles as an on-air reporter and meteorologist at KTLA, where she spent a decade delivering the news with clarity and calm presence.

Today, Liberté brings her personal and professional experiences together through a lens of mindful living — something she now shares with her daughter, Mila, through Mindful Minis.

At home, she finds joy in creating nourishing, wholesome meals — cooking and baking for her baby girl, with her husband happily enjoying it too.
